WEB 2.0 in our society

I do all my work on a computer or use my IPhone for work so when it comes to the web it is very important to me to have the latest update of software.  Web 2.0 is something I found very helpful, especially when I got to college.  I was always big on writing. I wanted to share with people my experiences and the things I have learned. I wanted to convey these in a non-judgmental way, and I wasn’t interested in making money; I simply wanted to share.

WEB 2.0 THOUGHTS:
Defining web 2.0 is a hard thing, because it is not just the latest version of social networking.  It is the way we communicate with each other such as Facebook, blogging and all the other social websites.  I honestly didn’t start using web 2.0 till I was in college.  I started to blog for personal reasons and was getting a lot of feedback, it was nice to know that people were reading my stuff. Web 2.0 is something I became more involved with when I created a Facebook account. Once I had started traveling I was using Facebook as my travel blog.

Web 2.0 has come so far since it first came into the world.  I believe that one day it is going to take over our social experience.  I mean it basically already has; it is rare when you find someone that doesn’t have some sort of social media networking account for personal reasons.  It is now 2014 and people can post anything on the web or some social networking site and someone else can get it within seconds of it being posted.  It is insane how connected we are with web 2.0.  From traveling I have made friends all around the world, I have one friend in Amsterdam and we were talking the other day on Facebook like he was sitting right next to me.  I believe that the direction web 2.0 is going is a blessing and a curse for our world.  It is a blessing because it honestly has connected the world in a way that is amazing for international business and connecting people around the world but it is a curse because people are depended on it.  People surround their lives with just social networking.  I know a girl who cannot function on a daily basis if she doesn’t constantly check all her social media sites throughout the day. It has changed the way we communicate with each other, I don’t really use social media as much anymore unless I have to because I kept catching myself writing the way I text and I would take short cuts with words when talking.

WEB 2.0 IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT:

People around the world have been using web 2.0 for years now.  It has truly developed so much in the years of it being around.  According to Dr. Bryan Alexander this concept of Web 2.0 has been dated back to the “1960s and JCR Licklider's thoughts on using networked computing to connect people in order to boost their knowledge and their ability to learn.” [1]
Web 2.0 is more than just a regular website to get information off of but it also always people to put up their own information.  It allows people to interact with each other and put any kind of information up on the Internet.
According to www.ebizmba.com here are the top 15 most popular web 2.0 websites of 2014 and the monthly visiting numbers.  The number one spot goes to YouTube with an estimate of 1,000,000,000 visitors every month. Wikipedia is number two with 475, 000,000 monthly visitors, Twitter is number three with 290,000,000, WordPress is number four with 240,000,000 monthly visitors, and number five is Pinterest with 150,000,000 visitors monthly, for the rest of the list visit http://www.ebizmba.com/articles/web-2.0-websites.             Web 2.0 has come a long way since the 1960s.  It has developed into this social frenzy and will continue to grow as more and more people become connected.  People will continue to share information and become more involved with the next big social networking website.  It will keep growing until our society is all about being “connected” and being able to access anything in the world.
