curious of how candles are made and how the science behind the actual candle?
Well, you now can learn from the National Candle Association (NCA). NCA is a major trade association in the U.S. This association was founded in 1974 and they
are still going strong. They are widely
recognized as the leading technical authority on candles & candle
manufacturing. “Its member companies
account for approximately 90 percent of candles made in the United States.”
Some
of the big name candles that are made by NCA are; Bath & Body Works,
Slatkin & CO. and a lot of the Yankee candles. There are many, many more brand names but
those are just three known companies.
They make all kinds of candles, such as; pillars, gel candles,
tea-lights, birthday candles, luminaria,
taper, jar/container candles and votive.
They also offer décor ideas and fragrance trends.
Some
of the other things the NCA offers are the science behind the actual
candle. They show the making of a
candle, how to take care of it and the science behind the flame of the
candle. They also give fire safety tips
for people and their homes; showing how to keep candles and be safe from
fires.
The
NCA shows the elements of a candle and the making of the wax, wicks, fragrance
and colorants. It explains each of the
elements and what it does for the candle.
Showing the process of the candle making and the elements gives people a
different kind of appreciation towards candles.
